Technology.

Paper Laboratory

This facility really sets us apart from the rest of the sheet plant industry. A whole array of testing equipment means we can check the performance characteristics of our raw materials, grammage, calliper, burst strength, smoothness, porosity, stiffness and sizing degree of the paper. We even test the viscosity and solids content of the adhesive.

Our customers can rest assured they really are getting what they are buying. They are also welcome to utilise this facility, and many of them do. We conduct tests on their own paper products and raw materials.
A truly scientific approach to customer service!

Print Laboratory

Housed in the production unit, our new plant laboratory includes an X-RITE spectrophotometer. The accurate measurement of colour ensures consistent print repeatability from one production run to the next.

Each print run is measured, recorded and stored in the computer. The spectrophotometer is not just for the ink technician, it is used by the print operators who make the boxes.

In conjunction with the Stork ink mixing station we are able to formulate and produce our own inks in house with complete control of colour.

We all see colours differently, a spectrophotometer sees colour accurately.

The Systems

In a world dominated by computer science we are continually developing our systems underpinned by Abaca’s Packaging 3000 operating system.

All aspects of our everyday working life are recorded on computer, designs, samples, quotations, artworks, orders, work requisitions, shop floor data collection, barcode and stock location, order picking, vehicle tracking system to monitor deliveries, full internal/external cctv system, hand scanner clocking station, fuel dispensing tanks, the list is ever changing.

We achieved BRC accreditation in December 2009 and 5 Star accreditation by the National Packaging Council in 2008.

Every aspect of technology is explored to allow traceability of all our actions to maintain our standards time and time again.
It’s not just a Cardboard Box.
